North Texas Giving Day 2025: Last-Minute Strategy for Nonprofits

August 20, 2025

Calling all nonprofits in North Texas! We are one month away from North Texas Giving Day, scheduled for Sept. 18, 2025. Do you know how you will be inviting your donors and supporters to give on this once-a-year extravaganza of a day? If not, have no fear! The Cause Agency is here.

North Texas Giving Day is the largest regional giving event in the country, hosted by Communities Foundation of Texas. For North Texas nonprofits, it’s a crucial fundraising opportunity that requires strategic planning.

Sure, the clock is ticking, but you’ve got time to still plan and roll out a strong strategy to get your supporters involved and donating to you on North Texas Giving Day. Let’s get into it!

The Story Comes First

First, you need to decide what story you want to tell about your work and the impact your organization has made in the past year. What good news can you share from 2025? What would delight supporters to know? Ask yourself and your team what memories stand out. Is there a specific project or progress you’re most proud of? If you can pull together some stats, those will help tell the story; and so will photos — just make sure you have permission from the people captured in the photos.

Remember to connect your impact back to how your supporters helped make it possible — they want to see their role in the good work you’re doing. And, they’ll likely turn right back around and give you more support!

Next Comes a Plan for Sharing

Now that you know what kind of good news you want to share, it’s time to write it down and parse it out in bite-sized pieces. You can plan posts for your social accounts — just make sure to pepper them between now and September 18. For example, one per week between now and September 12, then one per day the week of North Texas Giving Day.

Pro Tip: Save your most compelling story for September 18 itself — you want to give people a reason to act that day!

You could also write several emails and schedule them to be sent the week of North Texas Giving Day. Send multiple emails because people won’t see everything — try 3-4 emails the week of September 18, each with a different angle or story. You want to make sure to include a clear invitation or ask for people to participate and give to your good work.Make sure you also share a little about North Texas GIving Day — lots of people have never even heard of it! You can get all the info, plus some help with graphics on the North Texas Giving Day site.

Don’t Forget to Swing for the Fences

Beyond using your social media following and email list, how else can you challenge people to give to your organization? Push yourself to dream about the best possible outcome from North Texas Giving Day and then swing for the fences.

  • Maybe you create a simple thermometer graphic showing your goal and update it throughout the day to build momentum. Post updates on social media throughout the day to keep momentum going.
  • Maybe you invite a few of your biggest donors to match what you receive on North Texas Giving Day.
  • Maybe your team spends an hour calling and thanking people for their support of your organization that day. You can never go wrong thanking people — you’ll at least make their day and at best, inspire them to give again.
